Here you will find all updates and information relevant to the 1st round of the International Renewable Energy Case Competition (IRECC) in the China region.
The International Renewable Energy Case Challenge (China Division) took place at 2:00pm April 11th at the international lecture hall at Guanghua Building. The president of Peking University International Student Energy Initiatives Li Ying’s opening address announced the start of the whole competition.
We invited Andrew Aldridge, Director of Carbon Finance from Climate Change Capital; David Diebold, Chairman and CEO of the David Diebold& Associates Company; Edward Chan, COO of China Solar& Clean Energy Solutions; Xu Yamin, University Program Manager of Schneider Electric China; Dulles Wang, program manager in the Energy Smart City Initiatives at JUCCCE and Wang Dong, distinguished research fellow from the College of Engineering at Peking University as our judges. We also got strong media support from Focus Magazine?China Energy News, University Student Weekly, Peking University TV station and the Voice of Peking University.
The six outstanding teams we selected from 47 teams are E-Star from Peking University, GreenMart from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Cascade Pioneer from Peking University, REST from Peking University, the Polaris from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Re-E-Future from Peking University. On the final competition stage, they all made great efforts to show their best performance. The proposal, the Power Point as well as the way they present their ideas are all well articulated. The judges were also well engaged in the Challenge and actively asked relevant questions, made comments and gave precious advice to the students.
After a tight race, the E-Star team became the winner of the China Division, with a score of_1038__(total: 6 judges each gave scores on a 200-point scale, 100-point for proposal and 100-point for ppt, see the point table for details), the Green Mart from Shanghai Jiaotong University finally won the second place with only 7 points behind, and the Cascade Pioneer from Peking University took the third place with_961__points. The Polaris from SH Jiaotong University & Fudan University win a score of 924. REST and Re-E-Future win scores of 905 and 875, respectively. Then Professor Wang Dong gave us the closing speech and he was highly complementary about the efforts of our staff and the performance of the contestants high.
At the end of the day, we had a dinner party at Yanyuan Room of Zhengda International Center, where all the judges and participants had another chance to get to know each other at a more personal level.
