Geography
Situated in the southern region of the Balkan Peninsula, Macedonia is a landlocked nation neighbouring Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania and Kosovo. In addition to its mountainous terrain, the territory is covered with valleys, deep basins and a number of large lakes. The Vardar River further bisects the country North to South. Macedonia is a major transportation corridor from Western and Central Europe to the Aegean Sea and from Southern Europe to Western Europe.
Climate
Three climatic types overlap–Mediterranean; moderately continental; and mountainous, producing hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters.
Resources
Some natural resources include: low-grade iron ore, timber, copper, lead, zinc, chromite, manganese, nickel, tungsten, gold, and silver.
